Genetics of neuronal and epidermal morphogenesis in C. elegans.
George Fortes, Associate Professor
Kathy French , Lecturer (SOE)
Anirvan Ghosh, Chair of Neurobiology,
Professor of Biology
Molecular neurobiology; mechanisms of cortical development and plasticity; calcium regulation of gene expression.
Shelley Halpain , Professor of Biology
The Halpain Laboratory works at the interface of cell biology and neuroscience to investigate molecular mechanisms in the morphogenesis of axons, dendrites, and synapses. Through time-lapse imaging and quantitative fluorescence-based analyses, we study how the actin and microtubule cytoskeletons regulate neuronal form and function.

Professor of Biology
Neurobiology; neuronal basis of behavior;
development of simple nervous systems.
Jill Leutgeb
Stefan Leutgeb
Roberto Malinow , Professor of Biology
The Malinow Lab studies the biological basis of memory function and dysfunction by studying the physiology of rodent synapses.
Mauricio Montal,
Professor of Biology
Molecular neurobiology; molecular
basis of electrical excitability and signal transduction in neural
membranes; molecular design of channel proteins.
Pamela Reinagel,
Assistant Professor of Biology
Neural coding of visual information by thalamic neurons; temporal and
population coding, natural scenes, visual behavior.
Massimo Scanziani, Vice Chair of Neurology, Professor of Biology
Understanding the circuits controlling the spatial and temporal structure of cortical activity.
Terrence J. Sejnowski,
Professor of Biology, UCSD/Salk Institute
Neurobiology; computational models
of the nervous system; mechanisms for synaptic plasticity.
Nicholas C. Spitzer, Vice Chair of Neurology,
Professor of Biology
Developmental neurobiology; control
of expression of neuronal phenotypes.
Jing W. Wang,
Assistant Professor of Biology
Systems neurobiology; representation and processing
of olfactory information in simple olfactory system.
