Eureka! Scholarship Program

The Eureka! Scholarship Program is a highly competitive summer undergraduate research experience for some of our most promising undergraduates. Students work alongside world-renowned scientists, conducting research in a wide range of areas. An investment of $5,000 allows a student to gain real-world laboratory experience without concern for basic living expenses over the summer. Gifts of all sizes can also be pooled to support students’ participation in this meaningful experience.

Gabriele Wienhausen Endowed Undergraduate Biology Award

When it comes to student advocacy and program innovation, Gabriele Wienhausen, former associate dean for education, has a longstanding and remarkable legacy. In honor of the positive impact she has had on countless students, we are raising funds to establish the Gabriele Wienhausen Endowed Undergraduate Biology Award.

Need-Based Academic Scholarships

Scholarships are critical to keeping UC San Diego accessible to ambitious and motivated students from all backgrounds. Currently, 64% of our undergraduates need financial assistance to attend college. Meanwhile, the State of California’s per student funding has dropped 60 percent over the last two decades. You scholarship support will help bridge the gap between the cost of attending UC San Diego and what our Biological Sciences students and their families can afford to pay.

PRIME, or Pacific Rim Experiences for Undergraduates, is an international summer research program for outstanding science and engineering undergraduate students at UC San Diego. PRIME students spend their summer conducting research at host institutions in Japan, India, China, Australia and more. Scholarships help students gain invaluable global laboratory experiences while covering the cost of airfare, housing and basic living expenses.
