Academic Reviews

  • May 1: Council of Chairs sends a letter to eligible academic appointees requesting review materials for an effective date of July 1 the following year.
  • August 1: Academics submit review materials as specified in Council of Chairs letter. Academic appointees who do not submit their materials by this deadline will have a no change file submitted for them.  No Exceptions Will Be Granted
  • October 15:  Last date to make updates to academic bibliography and/or submit manuscripts for Section C.
  • December 1: Campus deadline for submission of review files for normal merits, merit/reappointment for Assistant level academics, reappointments and non-salaried actions at all ranks.
  • January 15: Campus deadline for submission of review files for appraisals, accelerated merit advancements and Further Above Scale merits..
  • February 15: Campus deadline for submissions of review files for promotions, advancement to or through Step VI, advancement to Above Scale, cross-over merits and terminal reappointments.

Sabbaticals

  • January 1: Faculty must notify Sandra Brierley at sbrierley@ucsd.edu of intent to take sabbatical leave during the following academic year, indicating which quarters and at what %.  Ms. Brierley will generate an electronic leave form to print, sign and return.
  • February 15: Faculty must submit a formal sabbatical leave plan along with leave form.  Leave plan must include:

A brief history of the project, from inception through progress to date and  projection as to completion date.  This history shall include a description of the applicant's preparation and any  significant contributions already made in the field  of activity with which the project is concerned.


Significance of the project as a contribution to knowledge, to art, to a particular profession; or as an expected contribution to the applicant's increased effectiveness as a teacher and scholar.

Name(s) of the location(s) or institution(s) where the project will be carried on, and the names of authorities, if any, with whom it will be conducted.

Assurances of cooperation, or authorization to conduct the project, received from individuals, institutions, or agencies.

Description of all financial support expected during the sabbatical leave, including any fellowship, grant, government-sponsored exchange lectureship, or payment for contract research.  (See also APM - 740-18 and 740-19.)

Disposition of courses, including potential replacements.

  • 0-90 Days Post Sabbatical: Faculty must submit a written sabbatical report to the Sr. Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
