Ecology, Behavior & Evolution: Research Topics

Marine Biology

EBE faculty are working on a number of different questions in Marine Biology including (i) understanding the ecological and evolutionary processes that generate and maintaining marine biodiversity (ii) quantifying responses of marine species and ecosystems to climate change and ocean acidification and developing predictive models of future responses (iii) understanding the effects of anthropogenic harvesting (fishing) on species and ecosystems (iv) understanding how introduced species alter species interactions in coastal marine communities and (v) quantifying the effects of urbanization and coastal development on intertidal species and communities. Details of specific projects can be found on individual faculty websites. The marine biologists in the section closely interact and collaborate with the large group of colleagues at SIO.
