Neurobiology: Research Topics

Cellular/Molecular Neurobiology

The functions of individual neurons and their interactions.

Neurons are highly specialized cells, with organelles and protrusions that make them unique. Many of the NB laboratories use a variety of modern tools that were originally invented to study the universal functions of cellular organelles and molecules, applying them to study the electrical, synaptic, and information-processing capabilities that are specific to neurons. Having a Neurobiology group embedded in a Division of Biological Sciences that has a long history of strength in cellular and molecular biology provides productive interactions with colleagues in MB and CDB.
