Computational Neurobiology

Using data analysis and modeling to determine neuronal function.

Computational techniques provide powerful algorithms for understanding complex data, for testing hypotheses, and for formulating future experiments. Many members of the NB faculty use analytical and modeling techniques as adjuncts to their biological experiments, both to help to make sense of the outcomes of experiments and to determine which additional experiments will be most helpful in solving a particular problem. Techniques range from on-line analysis of data using a laptop to detailed modeling of neuronal activity that push the limits of the San Diego Supercomputer.
