Neurobiology: Research Topics

Systems Neurobiology

How circuits connect to form functional systems.

One of the precursors of modern Systems Biology is Systems Neurobiology, with its study of the complex interactions among different parts of the brain to produce perceptions, motor outputs, and their modulation. Faculty members in the NB group study how neural systems work across phyla, from worms and flies to rats and mice. They use physiological, anatomical, genetic, and computational techniques to study the ways in which neuronal circuits interact to produce functionally meaningful patterns of activity.
