Community Day

Community Day is a day-long event to provide the Biological Sciences community an opportunity to gather and discuss mentorship goals, campus resources, and career development opportunities.

The event features:

  • A Biotech Career Workshop Panel with representatives from Novartis, Pfizer, Bristol Myers Squibb, Fate Therapeutics, and Neomorph
  • Presentations from OPHD, CAPS, Ombuds, and the Career Center
  • A Mentorship Discussion Panel
  • Social Networking at the Faculty Club

Locations: Fred Kavli Auditorium (3201 Tata Hall) for talks, Tata Hall Terrace (West end of the third floor) for breakfast, tables outside Tata Hall for lunch, and the Faculty Club for the Networking Social

Dr. Corbett was awarded the RNA Society Award for Excellence in Inclusive Leadership and the Eleanor Main Award for Graduate Mentoring in 2022.

Registration

Please come to Tata Hall Room 3103 to check in before attending talks and meals.

As space in the Faculty Club Louge and Patio is limited, registration will be capped at 100 attendees. All first-year PhD graduate students will be automatically registered. Once the limit of 100 is reached, further registrants will be notified that they are being put on the wait list in case of cancellations.

All attendees are expected to wear a mask indoors. N95 masks will be provided for free to those who need them.

Food and drink will be served and consumed outdoors only. No refreshments are allowed in the Kavli Auditorium except water.

When checking in for the event,

  • Students, staff and faculty must show their daily symptom screener.
    • Must have green thumb to attend.
  • Non-affiliate attendees are encouraged to test within 24 hours of the event. Rapid tests will be supplied on request.
  • If you wish to attend the networking social at the Faculty Club, you must wear a wristband that will be marked each time you are served an alcoholic beverage. The wristbands will be issued when you check in for the event in Tata Hall Room 3103.
