Larry Goldstein, ’76 Biology

Larry Goldstein, ’76 Biology, is one of five members of the UC San Diego Triton family who will be recognized at the 2014 Alumni Celebration on Saturday, June 7. Goldstein, who will receive the award for Distinguished Leadership, is a distinguished professor of cellular and molecular medicine, director of the new Sanford Stem Cell Clinical Center at UC San Diego and investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Goldstein’s research focuses on Lou Gehrig’s, Alzheimer’s and other debilitating diseases. A strong leader in the UC San Diego School of Medicine, Goldstein has testified before both houses of the U.S. Congress regarding stem cell research and at the National Institutes of Health.
