UC San Diego's School of Biological Sciences is an undisputed leader. A top-ranked national and global destination for biology research and education, the division is at the forefront in several biological sciences disciplines and was named the nation's leader for biology degrees granted to females and underrepresented minority students. In a 21st century being shaped by critical issues surrounding human health, disease, food production and environmental sustainability, the School of Biological Sciences is conducting foundational research and training a diverse pipeline of leaders to create new solutions based on biological innovation.

Goeddel Family Technology Sandbox Named in Honor of $7.5M Gift from UC San Diego Alumnus

The donation from David Goeddel, '72, and his wife Alena, will support innovation, research and training in the School of Biological Sciences as well as undergraduate scholarships for Triton scholar-athletes.

Fundraising Campaign Gives Kendall-Frost Marsh a Fresh Start

Progress continues for a scheduled Fall groundbreaking for the new Field Station and Learning Center facility. Over $2M was raised to support construction of the project. Mayor Todd Gloria and numerous distinguished public officials and community-based organizations recently attended “Love Your Wetlands Day” at the KFMR site along with several thousand people.

Kavli – Dr. William and Marisa Rastetter Chancellor's Endowed Chair in Neurobiology

The Chair Fund will provide support for the research, scholarly activities, teaching and related needs of a distinguished faculty member associated with the Neurobiology academic section in the School of Biological Sciences at UC San Diego, who shows a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, with a preference for a faculty member affiliated with the Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind at UC San Diego.

Student Fellowships, Scholarships and Community Success Center

With new leadership level support from the Shurl and Kay Curci Foundation, New England Biolabs, BioLegend, The Ray Thomas Edwards Foundation, Christopher and Elizabeth Wills, along with long-standing support. We now have a total of 28 new fellowships and scholarships.
