Open Co-Op Positions

Application Process

  1. Available Co-Op positions are continuously posted throughout the year, so be sure to check back regularly for new opportunities. Simply click on a job posting below that interests you and follow the instructions provided to apply.
  2. Most applications will require you to submit a resume and cover letter. If you'd like support, we recommend scheduling an appointment with the Career Center to have your materials reviewed before submitting your application.
  3. It's important to note that the company oversees the hiring process, and the university is not directly involved. If a company is interested in interviewing you, the recruiter or hiring manager will reach out to schedule either a phone screening or an interview. The purpose of the phone screening is to confirm your eligibility, and if you're deemed eligible, an interview will be scheduled, most likely with the hiring manager.
  4. If you've applied and haven't heard back from the company within two weeks, feel free to send a follow-up email if their contact information was provided. Most companies will inform you if you haven't been selected as a candidate.
  5. Typically, within two weeks of the interview, the company will contact you with their hiring decision. If you're the top candidate, they'll extend an offer with details about the position, salary, and start date. If you accept the offer, congratulations! You're now part of the Co-Op Program. Please reach out to us at biocap@ucsd.edu once you've accepted your offer for guidance on the next steps to officially enroll in the program.
  6. At Catalent, the process varies slightly. You'll follow the same application process as described above. If hired, you'll have the option to enroll in the Co-Op Program. Enrolling in the program means you'll gain access to valuable career development training, enhance your science communication skills, and present your work at campus symposiums through the required Co-Op course, BISP 182 Cooperative Education and Analysis.
