Co-Op Program Overview

The School of Biological Sciences Co-Op Program at UC San Diego is a prestigious, nationally distinctive opportunity for undergraduate students of any major to spend one full year in a paid, professional role at a leading life sciences company while completing concurrent, accredited career development coursework.

As one of the first and only life sciences co-op programs in the country, our Co-Op Program goes far beyond a traditional internship, preparing students with real-world industry experience, corporate mentorship, and the professional skills employers expect.

Students gain hands-on responsibility, mentorship, and support within San Diego's thriving life sciences ecosystem. Graduates of the program emerge confident, career-ready, and highly competitive, with the experience and network needed to launch a meaningful, long-term career in the life sciences industry.
